Writers & Illustrators Wanted!

Writers & Illustrators Wanted!

once-upon-a-time-719174_1920

Hello and welcome … :-)

We are a South African children’s books publisher and all our stories can be found on an App we have created called Roundafire. Please feel free to download it now on your iPad upon which you will get 10 free storybooks.

We want our writers to tell stories that are relevant and relatable to the African child – basically, no Cinderella and Snow White type of stories. We want stories that celebrate the cultural and ethnic diversity of this country (and even the continent) and express the realism of our African society.

Writers are free to write on any genre such as African Folklore, Adventure, Concept/Factual Books, Contemporary tales etc. and stories can vary across all ages of primary school children. To those that can write in vernacular – Setswana, Zulu and Afrikaans will be accepted for now.

All writers and illustrators (Black, Coloured, Indian, White, etc.) are encouraged to participate so that we can get a diverse view of stories and narratives.

Furthermore, writers and illustrators should ensure that these stories break stereotypes and should not in any way be offensive, obscene and infringe on people’s dignity and rights.

Illustrators are encouraged to send links of their work and writers should submit their manuscripts. Both can submit at writers@roundafire.co.za and all queries shall be addressed here. Right of admission upon all submissions is reserved.

Looking forward to working with you and please let your writer-friends know about this opportunity.
